Welcome to the INFORMS Transportation Science and Logistics (TSL) Society!

The INFORMS Transportation Science and Logistics (TSL) Society provides INFORMS members and friends with a sustained, specialized focus on all topics of transportation science and logistics, including current and potential problems and contributions to their solution, and supports efforts to extend, unify, and integrate related branches of knowledge and practice. We encourage the education of students and the continuing education of practitioners.

The Society was formed in 2004 with the merger of the Transportation Science and Logistics Sections. The Aviation Applications Section became an affiliate of the Society in 2008 and all members of the Aviation Applications Section are also members of TSL.

The Society is the editorial home of one of INFORMS’ flagship journals, Transportation Science.

The Society includes five special interest groups: Air Transportation, Freight Transportation and Logistics, Urban Transportation Planning and Modeling, Facility Logistics, and Intelligent Transportation Systems.

In this leadership role, the successful candidate will develop and implement industry best practices for LIPA’s procurement of goods and services and similarly oversee PSEG Long Island policies, practices, procurements, warehousing, and supply chain functions.   • Madison, Wisconsin, KL Engineering is seeking a Traffic Engineer to work out of our Madison, Green Bay, Menomonie, or Germantown office, or within a hybrid or remote working accommodation.  This individual will be working with a team of professionals who are invested and excited about the opportunity to work on a variety of infrastructure projects and initiatives that improve mobility, accessibility, sustainability, and safety.  This role includes completing technical assignments for a variety of projects while leading and mentoring staff engineers.  This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-career engineer to join a growing traffic engineering team and develop their career! Research and problem solve design or construction related challenges. Work with private and public clients and professional counterparts to ensure projects are delivered on-time and within budget, while meeting and/or exceeding client expectations. Assist in monitoring project schedules and activities. Perform analytical and investigative tasks including traffic operations modeling, formal traffic safety analysis, review of reference materials and manuals, and identification of operations improvement alternatives and safety improvement countermeasures. Plan traffic and safety data collection efforts and oversee staff and equipment during implementation of data collection plans. Engage in training and mentoring activities with staff engineers. Perform field reviews for infrastructure and electrical design projects. Prepare summary materials in written and graphical formats. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field. 3 - 8+ years of traffic engineering experience. Registration as a professional engineer in the state of Wisconsin or the ability to become registered within one year. PTOE or RSP certification preferred. Extensive experience with traffic engineering analysis and design software including HCS, Synchro, AutoCAD Civil3D and Sidra. VISSIM and IHSDM experience strongly preferred. Good data interpretation and technical writing skills. Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills, with high level of attention to detail and self-motivated to be successful. Ability to identify and establish work priorities while balancing multiple projects. Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment, communicate (virtually and in-person) with clients and colleagues, both verbally and in writing. Previous experience on transportation projects (WisDOT experience a plus). This position requires you to have authorization to work in the United States for any employer.   • Arlington, Virginia, PRIMARY PURPOSE CNA is hiring for an  Operations Research Analyst  to join their  Resources and Force Readiness Division  (RFR). Staff at this level will be leading smaller/less complex activities  or will be serving as an important contributing team member on projects.  The RFR division focuses on a full range of resource issues. Six programs within RFR address problems in manpower, personnel, training and education; energy, infrastructure and the environment; cost, acquisition processes, material and supply readiness and logistics; and health analytics and medical readiness. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: Minimum Master’s degree in  operations research, systems engineering, industrial engineering, or in a field closely related to decision-making optimization , PhD preferred. Experience: Typical minimum requirements Ph.D. & 0+ years or Master’s & 2+ years of experience in: Developing and parameterizing mathematical programs, such as linear, integer, quadratic and/or stochastic programs. Using optimization to inform analysis of tradeoffs and business cases to support resourcing decisions. Developing and coding simulation models using interpreted programming languages (R and Python) and commercial off-the-shelf software (Arena and ExtendSim). Interpreting results of simulation models to inform decision making and evaluate alternative courses of action. Experience in applying optimization and simulation techniques in the fields of personnel management and/or human resource management is highly desired. Skills: Ability to make significant contributions to projects/analyses Strong analytic curiosity/ creativity Ability to operate independently in the execution of assignments Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment Strong critical thinking skills Knowledge of research techniques Strong planning and organizational skills Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills Ability to interact positively and somewhat independently with clients. 4.
