The MSOM Society is now considering nominations for the MSOM Distinguished Service Award.
The MSOM Distinguished Service Award was approved by the members at Spring Business Meeting in 1996 in Atlanta and has been given annually since 1997. The award was created to recognize individuals whose distinguished service to MSOM has helped to advance the goals and objectives of the Society significantly. Recipients of this award have provided exceptional leadership in the Society through multiple roles, including, but not limited to, journal editorship, MSOM Society/SIG officers, or chair of an MSOM/SIG conference. For the list of past awardees, please follow the link (https://www.informs.org/Recognizing-Excellence/Community-Prizes/Manufacturing-and-Service-Operations-Management/MSOM-Distinguished-Service-Award).
Written nominations are to be sent electronically to the Award Committee Chair, President-Elect Lingxiu Dong (firstname.lastname@example.org), by April 5, 2023. Anyone, including the nominee, may make nominations. The nominee must be a member of the MSOM Society. Elected MSOM officers are ineligible for the award during their terms of office.
Nominations must consist of:
- Statement of major contributions (may be prepared by the nominee) and
- At least one letter of recommendation.
At the discretion of the Award Committee, the Award may be given to a group of individuals (at least one of whom belongs to MSOM) who have worked jointly on a common project.
The award winner(s) will be announced at the summer MSOM conference and presentation of the award will take place at the business meeting during the fall INFORMS conference. The award is accompanied by a plaque and a $1,000 honorarium. If a group of individuals are chosen to receive the award, the cash prize will be divided up equally among the group.
