The Computing Society is a subdivision of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) representing over 800 members of industry and academia focused on the interface between operations research and computing.
In case you receive a recognition from the INFORMS Computing Society, please consider the following advice:
-
If you are in industry, don't be shy about sharing the recognition with your manager and your manager's manager. (Yes! Your second line manager. This is the recommended best practice in many corporations. Still hesitant? Reach out to the Open Industry Forum for peer feedback on your corporate situation).
-
If you are in academia, the advice above applies as well: as a PhD student, do share your recognition with your PhD advisor, director of student services, and department chair; as a faculty member, do share about it with your department chair and associate dean of faculty. If on the job market, do share such an update with search committees who have been previously in touch with you.
-
Don't be shy about letting your corporate communications / university media relations team know about your INFORMS recognition. Many companies / universities want to promote good news about their employees and are starving for content.
-
Sharing your INFORMS recognition on social media and tagging #INFORMS is good for you, good for the profession, and good for INFORMS! Got questions? Need help? We're here for you. Reach out to computing_soc@informs.org.
