Message from the Section Chair

Our flagship event, the annual INFORMS Revenue Management and Pricing Section Conference, is almost upon us. It promises to be a great event this year!

Our section conference will be taking place at Stanford on June 6 and 7, and it will feature 96 papers, including 16 spotlighted papers. The program looks excellent and I thank the conference organizers and program committee. The conference will be preceded by the Marketplace Innovation Workshop, which will take place on June 4 and 5, and will contain 10 plenary talks, 20 accepted papers and 16 talks that will be part of a novel academia-industry forum. These programs were curated out of a record number of submissions: 161 for the RMP Conference and 66 for MIW. If you haven’t yet looked at the programs, I encourage you to visit www.rmp2019.org and marketplaceinnovation.net. I thank everyone who submitted a paper or abstract.

We also have three prize competitions with upcoming deadlines. The inaugural student paper competition is being chaired by Ming Hu (Toronto) and its deadline is August 11. Kostas Bimpikis (Stanford) and Stefanus Jasin (Michigan) are serving in this committee. The practice prize, which is a biennial one, is being chaired by Guillermo Gallego (HKUST) and the committee is composed of Jose Luis Beltran (Hitachi), Kalyan Talluri (ICL) and Huseyin Topaloglu (Cornell). The deadline for submission is July 1. This year’s section prize is being chaired by Rene Caldentey (Chicago) and its committee includes Victor Araman (AUB), Huseyin Topaloglu (Cornell) and Gabriel Weintraub (Stanford). The submission deadline is July 31.

Please remember that students can now become members of our section for free. Please encourage your Ph.D. students to do so.

I hope to see all of you at the Stanford conference!
