About Pro Bono Analytics

INFORMS Pro Bono Analytics (PBA) brings together INFORMS members, other analytics practitioners, and nonprofit professionals and organizations working in underserved communities with the goal of enabling these vital nonprofits to begin making data driven decisions. In short, think "helping nonprofits with data" when you think of PBA. Sometimes our work is as complex as building a system to forecast real-time demand for services, and other times it's as simple as helping an organization choose between analytical tools or organize and store collected data from past fundraising campaigns. Even if your organization is just getting started with data, we can provide advice and assistance on what data to collect, how to collect it, and where to keep it.

For a bit more context, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) is the largest professional society in the world for operations research (O.R.) and analytics professionals, with over 12,500 members. Every day, we apply mathematics, economics, computer science, and other disciplines to solve challenging problems and allow some of the largest global organizations to make informed decisions. The mission of Pro Bono Analytics evolved from the INFORMS mission (Saving Lives, Saving Money, Solving Problems) as we realized that the social impact of the power of data shouldn't be limited only to the organizations with the scale or resources to undertake data analytics projects. Working solely in the nonprofit sector and teaming up with amazing organizations like yours helps us target benefits to those who need it most. Learn more about INFORMS.

We think it's time to democratize data science, one project at a time. Get in touch with us to see how you can start turning your data into actions.

“Analytics is defined as the scientific process of transforming data into insights for making better decisions.”
