High-Impact Publication Award

The INFORMS Social Media Analytics Section announces the 2024 High-Impact Publication Award. The award will be offered to scientists at any level (e.g., assistant, associate, full) for a specific high-impact paper. The goal is to recognize excellent work.

Submission and Eligibility Requirements:

Every year between January 1st and August 1st members of the SMA section’s current leadership team (President, Vice-President, Treasurer) and previous leaders such as the President-Emeritus will request nominations for high-impact publications from current SMA members. Submission and Eligibility requirements:

  • Nominations need to come from current members. Nominations from non-members will not be accepted.
  • The paper needs to be in the field of social media analytics but can come from any stream (e.g., marketing, operations, information system, management, etc.)
  • The paper needs to be published.

Please send nominations to tauhid.zaman@yale.edu.

Judging Criteria:

  • Relevance, rigor and resonance of the publication.
  • Number of citations, considering the time the paper has been published, and the business field (e.g., Marketing, Operations, Management). For example, a publication with 1000 citations earned in 10 years, is different from a publication with 1000 citations in 5 years.
  • Between 0 and 5 awards may be given at any year.
  • An honoree may be selected for the award more than once as long as it is for a different paper and not in the same year.
  • Honorees are able to present their paper during the annual meeting in a dedicated session entitled High Impact Work. The plaque will honor all authors of the paper and will be awarded to the presenting author.
  • The award ceremony will take place at the business meeting.

Committee:

SMA leadership will form a committee to select award winners from the list of nominees based on the aforementioned criteria.
