Most men work in occupations where less than 20% of the employees are women, and a majority of women work in occupations where less than 30% of the employees are men.

I found one of the key takeaways very helpful: "Policies to reduce gender segregation may fail if they do not successfully alter job stereotypes." 

I know that many workplaces are trying to diversify gender, but without educating team with potential job stereotypes, even though the policies are made, the managers may still unintentionally hire certain gender for certain positions because of the stereotypes. As a result, I think educating or training is important to both managers and recruiters.

I do believe that gender-diverse teams have the opportunities to exchange their different perspectives and experiences, which can lead them to more effective problem-solving and decision-making through creativity and innovations. As I've been going through online, research also supports the idea that gender-diverse team performs better than gender-homogeneous teams as well. It's also important that all members in the team feel valued and heard. I believe that Gender diverse teams could potentially do better due to varied mindsets/ approaches working on a single strategy. This collaborative synergy contributes to team success, regardless of other differentiators. Additionally, research supports this notion, that gender diverse team generates around 19% more revenue than a homogeneous team. In spite of this, cultural norms continue to support stereotyped employment distributions, as seen by the under representation of women in several professions, including STEM. As a women in a STEM society, my involvement in diverse team has always being a positive experience. But supporting your thoughts of stereotypical job segregation, I was one of the few women (less than 5) in the particular field of Tech development, surrounded by a higher ratio of men within the team. To address this issue and promote a more inclusive approach, I think it it is crucial to actively challenge and change existing norms. What strategies do you think can be supportive for it?

As I was reading the press release, I realized that I could easily name occupations that are male dominated versus female dominated. I agree that gender-diverse teams allow for different perspectives to be shared in the workplace as men and women often approach problems differently. After doing some research, the consensus was that gender stereotypes in the workplace can perpetuate biases in hiring and career advancement. While individuals are aware that such gender stereotypes exist, they may unconsciously adhere to such stereotypes when making decisions. I am a female aiming to break into the tech industry which is male dominated. I feel encouraged seeing so many young women like yourself thriving in the workplace.

As a female who worked in a male dominant team, I remember my reporting manager asking me if i knew "Any Male" candidates who could fill in an open position which required travelling to onsite locations. This was my first hand experience in witnessing how  gender stereotypes still influence hiring decisions and perceptions of productivity in corporate.
