  • 1.  INFORMS Applauds Passage of Historic Legislation to Modernize STEM Education

    BALTIMORE, MD, Septmber 26, 2024 – In overwhelming bipartisan fashion, the U.S. House of Representatives just passed the "Mathematical and Statistical Modeling Education Act," (H.R. 1735) which, if enacted, would modernize STEM education in the United States. The bill passed by unanimous consent.

    I haven't read the Mathematical and Statistical Modeling Education Act but it sounds like the INFORMS skill set will be a major part. It should be great for prospective STEM students.

    The bill itself is quite short, so only a few minutes to read in its entirety. OR is mentioned prominently, and the bill is remarkably free of political causes. Basically $10 million/year to NSF for 5 years.
