    This award recognizes members whose paper and presentation in the Energy Systems Track at the IISE 2024 Annual Conference both represent the highest level of excellence.

    Eligibility

    • The main author of the paper must be a member of IISE and the Energy Systems Division.
    • An author must present the paper in the Energy Systems Track of the IISE Annual Conference.
    • The authors must submit a full paper in addition to an abstract.

    Application Process

    • When submitting their abstracts to the paper submission systems, the authors must indicate their intent to be considered for the best track paper.
    • After submitting their abstracts, the authors must notify their intent by sending an email to Kibaek Kim (kibaekkim@anl.gov), Chair of the Energy Systems Track Best Paper Award competition. The notification email must include:
      • main author's full name
      • affiliation
      • abstract ID
    • Note that a paper whose main author is a student can be entered into both the "Energy Systems Track Best Paper Award" and the "Energy Systems Track Best Student Paper Award" competitions.

    Evaluation Process

    • All competing papers are subject to a double-blind review process.
    • The best paper will be selected by the Best Paper committee based on the submission reviews as well as the committee members' reviews.
    • The winner will be notified via email by March 15, 2024, and is expected to attend the IISE conference to receive the award.

    Recognition Process (first place only)

    • Framed certificate
    • Recognition at the Annual Conference at the ES Town Hall Meeting
    • Recognition in the IISE Magazine
    • Recognition on the ES website and in the newsletter 

    Deadlines and Key Dates

    • Abstract submission deadline: November 17, 2023
    • Full paper submission intention notification deadline: February 9, 2024
    • Winner notified: March 15, 2024
