Highlights: Information & Management (I&M) Special Issue

The 25th Anniversary Workshop on e-Business (WeB 2026) is collaborating with Information & Management (I&M) to launch a Special Issue with the conference theme: Reimagining e-Business at 25: Intelligent, Agentic, and Trustworthy Digital Commerce.

    Conference Overview & Theme

The Workshop on e-Business (WeB) is a prominent annual one-day event dedicated to advancing research focused on e-Business and e-Commerce. It is held in conjunction with the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) and organized by the Association for Information Systems (AIS) SIG on E-Business (SIGeBiz). The conference theme of WeB 2026 is "Reimagining e-Business at 25: Intelligent, Agentic, and Trustworthy Digital Commerce." As WeB marks its 25th anniversary, the 2026 workshop celebrates the evolution of e-business from early online transactions to today's intelligent, interconnected, and increasingly autonomous digital commerce ecosystem. The theme, "Reimagining e-Business at 25: Intelligent, Agentic, and Trustworthy Digital Commerce," highlights a new era in which AI not only supports decision-making but also actively mediates customer interactions, business processes, platform operations, and market exchanges.

We invite original research that advances the understanding, design, and evaluation of next-generation e-business systems and practices in which autonomous or semi-autonomous AI technologies are embedded within digital commerce ecosystems. In particular, we seek contributions that examine: (i) the organizational, strategic, and market implications of agentic AI; (ii) innovative digital platform designs, coordination structures, and governance mechanisms that align stakeholder incentives, enhance trust, and mitigate emerging risks; and/or (iii) rigorous theoretical, empirical, or design-oriented evidence on the impacts of AI-enabled e-business systems on consumers, workers, firms, markets, and regulators. Consistent with the longstanding tradition of the WeB conference, we especially encourage submissions that explore emerging and frontier phenomena shaping the future of e-business and the digital economy.

Research may include, but are not limited to, the AI-driven transformation of e-business ecosystems and digital markets. Relevant topics include the design, governance, and impact of AI-enabled e-business systems and agentic ecosystems; agentic commerce; and the use of AI agents in search, recommendation, negotiation, and purchasing processes. The workshop also welcomes research on the unintended consequences of Agentic AI, including manipulation, collusion, misinformation, and broader platform integrity challenges in the agentic era. At the individual level, submissions may examine AI-enabled consumer experiences, human–AI collaboration, and AI-assisted decision-making in business operations and digital platforms. Topics of interest include marketplace design and mechanisms supporting AI-to-AI and human-to-AI interactions, as well as ethical and trustworthy AI issues such as explainability, fairness, safety, accountability, transparency, and regulatory compliance. From the consumer perspective, relevant research may address data privacy, cybersecurity, fraud prevention, trust, and digital identity in AI-enabled environments. At the organizational level, research may explore the business value of Agentic AI, including its integration into supply chains, operational processes, resilience strategies, and enterprise risk management. Additional topics of interest include AI-enabled FinTech and financial services, consumer behavior in AI-mediated environments, the economic and competitive dynamics of personalization and dynamic pricing, and real-world deployments of AI-driven decision support and automation systems.

We welcome a broad range of research methodologies, including studies using public or proprietary data, field and laboratory experiments, causal inference approaches, design science, and survey-based measurement of AI interventions and outcomes. We encourage submissions that provide theoretical contributions, rigorous empirical evidence, methodological innovation, and actionable practical implications for understanding how e-business systems, digital platforms, and organizational practices evolve in an era of intelligent systems.

    Submission Guidelines

All papers must be submitted online via PaperFox and will undergo a double-blind review process. We solicit both completed research and research-in-progress submissions. Complete research papers should be no more than 11 pages in length, including abstract, figures, tables, and references. Research in-progress papers should not exceed 6 pages, inclusive of all content.

    Submission Link: (https://www.paperfox.ai/conference/web2026/submit)

All texts (excluding the title and section headings) must be in 10-point Georgia  font. The paper must be single-spaced with 1-inch margins on all sides. Accepted file formats are PDF and Microsoft Word. The first page of the paper should include the title and the abstract. Please do not disclose any author information in the manuscript. The template for Camera-Ready version is available at the conference site and must be used for inclusion in the proceedings. At least one author of each accepted paper must register for WeB 2026 in order to present their work at the workshop.

    Post-conference Publication

With the authors' consent, accepted conference papers will be included in the WeB 2026 digital proceedings hosted on the WeB website. The authors may choose to post either the full-length conference paper or an extended abstract (limited to two pages).

Selected Papers presented in WeB 2026 will have the opportunity to be invited for submission to the special issue of Information & Management. The papers invited to submit to this special issue will be the extended versions of outstanding works presented at WeB 2026. Each submission will undergo a rigorous peer review process managed by the special issue guest co-editors to ensure the highest scholarly standards. This Special Issue seeks to feature enhanced studies presented at WeB 2026 that advance understanding of how AI, digital platforms, customer experience, governance, and sustainability are reshaping e-business. In doing so, it aims to encourage innovative and impactful research on emerging e-business phenomena and to extend the influence of WeB in shaping the future of IS scholarship. The invitation for submission will be sent out by January 15, 2027, and the tentative submission open date is Feb 1st, 2027. More details will be announced in WeB 2026's award ceremony.

Fellowships A limited number of Ph.D. Student Fellowships will be offered, providing recipients with a full waiver of registration fees.

Volunteers WeB also welcomes student volunteers aged 12 and older. Preference will be given to family members of registered participants.
