The Department of Informatics of PUC-Rio invites applications for a full-time professor position in all areas of Computer Science and at all levels of experience. Candidates must have a Doctoral degree in Computer Science or any related field, demonstrate their ability to perform independent scientific research at an international level, conduct high-quality teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels, and be willing to engage in the departamental life and administration. Since most of the teaching is conducted in Portuguese, the candidate is expected to be able to teach in Portuguese by the second semester. Applicants with high potential for scientific research in the fields of Cyber-security, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics are especially welcome.
PUC-Rio is a prestigious private non-profit university, and the graduate program at the Department of Informatics is among the strongest in the country, having received the highest grade from CAPES (CAPES Conceito 7) since this evaluation started in 2001. The relatively small size of the department contributes to a supportive and collaborative environment. The pleasant PUC-Rio campus is located in Gávea, the neighborhood with Brazil's highest Human Development Index (IDH), and is very close to several natural beauties of the Cidade Maravilhosa, Rio.
