How To Add Citations In IEEE Paper? |Guidelines 2021

What is IEEE?

Supporting many branches of information technology, engineering, and computer science, the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) is a professional organization. In addition to making a lot of standards for a diverse spectrum of industries, IEEE also publishes research Write My Paper, journals, magazines, and other conference proceedings.

Why is IEEE referencing important?

From the perspective of a researcher, IEEE referencing is very important. IEEE has its own citation styles that are used in its technical publications.

The credibility of a researcher only comes from proper IEEE referencing!

To become a credible scholar, it is important to acknowledge the ideas of other authors and for this purpose, IEEE referencing must be known and practiced by researchers in the relevant fields. Citing sources accurately within the paper and in the bibliography or reference list can allow readers to track down any primary or secondary sources.

IEEE in-text citations

Numerals within brackets are used to denote references within the paper. All the references have only one numeral associated with them. It is important to ensure that all the numerals (references) appear in sequential order in the research paper. There are brackets in which the numeral is enclosed and this numeral along with the brackets is in line with the preceding text. IEEE citation is not very difficult to retain. There is punctuation placed after the bracket and before the bracket, space is inserted. If a student wants to call attention to a specific illustration and the same reference is used throughout the paper, then the referencing can be done as follows.

There is a great diversity among various wolves in a pack as far as their personality traits are concerned. [3, Fig. 7].

If there are several citations, then they would appear in the following manner:

[3], [7], [9] - [11]

Every numeral has to be bracketed. It should be noted that the first 2 citations stand alone and they are separated by a comma and space. However, the final citation denotes that an en dash is inserted between the brackets. It is also not necessary to cite the name of the main author each time.

Creation of a reference list

Corresponding to the numerals used throughout the paper, the reference list is not formatted alphabetically. Rather, the reference list is formatted sequentially.

In each entry, there are three unique parts and each one has its own importance:

  1. Name of the author or authors: This should be inclusive of the first name or the commonly used initial name. After the first name, there should be a comma, and then comes the last name of the Essay Writer
  2. Title of the journal article/ research paper/ scientific paper/ electronic work/ published material: this must be in quotation marks.
  3. Title of the publication: This has to be written in italics.

Formatting rules for citation in an IEEE paper

Parts of references such as dates and punctuation, may vary but the following rules have to be followed:

  • The reference text must be indented
  • The numbered brackets must be placed flush left
  • There should be a single space within the references
  • There should be double spaces between the references
  • Before each reference, the citation numeral must be used in brackets
  • References should be listed sequentially
  • After the first reference, the same authors through a Paper Writing Service and dates don't have to be written again
  • No distinction should be made between electronic and print sources
  • The numerals should hang out beyond the body of the references
  • References may not include all the information; all the necessary information should be added
  • All references should end with a period, except those which have a URL.
