Looking for a great way to give back to the profession? I was recently talking with the folks at COMAP (INFORMS supports one of their awards), and they are looking for judges.
Are you passionate about mathematics and its real-world applications? Join COMAP, the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications, an award-winning nonprofit organization dedicated to improving mathematics education in inspiring the next generation of problem solvers! COMAP's Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM®) and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM®) are global competitions that challenge students to tackle authentic, open-ended problems. As a judge, you'll play a vital role in evaluating creative solutions and supporting an experience that transforms how students see mathematics.
The MCM/ICM occurs annually, challenging teams of up to 3 undergraduate or high school students to solve one of six real-world, open-ended problems and present a solution report in no more than 25 pages during the 100 hours of the contest. In addition, these contests provide an experience in which students develop interpersonal skills through teamwork, develop technical writing and communication skills, feel a sense of accomplishment, and earn an impressive resume credential.
This contest has achieved international significance with over 27,000 teams from over 23 countries/regions participating last year. We need your help to continue to offer this tremendously impactful experience to so many worldwide. Please join our judging team!
