The INFORMS Section on Location Analysis (SOLA) is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the biennial SOLA Dissertation Award, which recognizes outstanding Ph.D. dissertations related to the field of location analysis. Completed dissertations from all related disciplines, including management science, industrial engineering, operations research, transportation science, geography and economics, will be considered.
Dissertations eligible for the SOLA Dissertation Award must be:
- written in English,
- completed between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023, and
- focused on substantive, theoretical or methodological issues in location analysis and modeling
Additionally, the nominee must be a member of SOLA at the time of submission.
*Please note that dissertations completed in 2024 will be eligible for the 2026 SOLA Dissertation Award.
Applicants are required to submit a package that includes the following as a single PDF file:
- Cover letter stating the name of their advisor(s) and whether all eligibility criteria have been met,
- Letter from their advisor supporting their submission,
- Two-page summary of their dissertation research, and
- Copy of the dissertation
Complete packages should be submitted via e-mail no later than June 15, 2024, to Gita Taherkhani, the Chair of the SOLA Dissertation Award at gtaherkhani@luc.edu, with the subject line "SOLA Dissertation Award Nomination."
Competition results and awards will be announced at the 2024 INFORMS Annual Conference.
