INFORMS is now accepting submissions for the Daniel H. Wagner Prize for Excellence in the Practice of Advanced Analytics and Operations Research.

The Wagner Prize recognizes outstanding real-world applications of advanced analytics and operations research that demonstrate quality and coherence of analysis, innovation in methodology, clear and compelling writing, and verifiable success in practice. Named in honor of the late Dr. Daniel H. Wagner, the prize reflects his lifelong commitment to strong mathematics applied to meaningful, practical problems.

Unlike awards that focus primarily on large-scale quantitative impact, the Wagner Prize places special emphasis on:

    • The clarity and quality of the analytical contribution
    • Originality and rigor of the mathematical approach
    • Evidence of successful implementation in practice
    • Clear written and oral presentation

The prize is awarded to the authors of the work and includes a $5,000 cash award and a citation plaque. Finalists are invited to present their work in person during the 2026 INFORMS Annual Meeting in San Francisco, and finalist papers are published in a special issue of the INFORMS Journal on Applied Analytics.

2026 Submission Deadline is May 1, 2026.  Learn more by visiting the award's webpage.
