Shaping INFORMS' Role in Emerging Fields & Technologies

  • 1.  Shaping INFORMS' Role in Emerging Fields & Technologies

    Posted 6 hours ago

I'm honored to be a candidate for Vice President, Emerging Fields & Technologies on the 2027 INFORMS Board of Directors. As voting opens, I wanted to share why I believe this role matters now.

AI and other emerging technologies are moving rapidly from experimentation into everyday organizational decisions. For INFORMS, I see an opportunity to help our community engage with these changes not only as downstream adopters, but as practitioners and researchers who can shape how it is developed and applied.

If elected, I would focus on three areas:

    • Practical member value: Create structured programming, working groups, technology scans, career resources, and other ways for members to learn from one another and engage directly with emerging fields.
    • Standards and professional offerings: Help ensure that resources such as CAP and the INFORMS Analytics Framework continue to reflect how analytics, AI, and decision-making are evolving in practice.
    • Partnerships: Deepen connections with peer societies, universities, industry, and emerging technology communities so INFORMS can both contribute our perspective and bring new knowledge back to our members.

I'm particularly interested in hearing from the community:

    • Which emerging technologies or fields do you think INFORMS should be paying the most attention to over the next few years?
    • What could INFORMS do that would be genuinely useful to you as these technologies reshape research, practice, and careers?

If you'd like to continue the conversation or share ideas directly, feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn or at jerryzhu1189@outlook.com

Voting is open through September 30. My full candidate statement is available here: https://www.informs.org/About-INFORMS/Governance/INFORMS-Election/Jiaxi-Zhu

Thank you for your consideration, and I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts.
