Hello everyone, my name is Ruijie Shan, and you can call me Jerry. I am very excited to join and become a member of this vibrant INFORMS community.
First of all, I would like to introduce my academic background and internship experiences to you, so that you can better understand me.
I majored in Financial Mathematics during my undergraduate studies. This is a discipline that combines mathematics, finance, and data science. After successfully completing my undergraduate studies, I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Business Analytics at the University of California, Davis. I hope that through my studies at Davis, I can better engage in business and quantitative analysis in the future and realize my personal goals and values.
Regarding internship experience, I have completed three internships, at internet and securities companies. Through multiple internships, I have accumulated work experience and honed skills such as creating PowerPoint presentations, using Excel, conducting research, and building mathematical models. As my internship experience deepens step by step, I have also established my career goal of becoming a business analyst in the future. I aspire to utilize my professional knowledge to make the best business decisions and make significant progress in the future.
After briefly introducing my background, I would like to discuss the areas of analysis I am most interested in learning about and discussing within the INFORMS community, specifically machine learning models and data analytics. This is because I recently participated in an internship project at Angel Flight West Company, where I was mainly responsible for cleaning and processing duplicate data. During the project, I found that combining machine learning models and data analysis is particularly important and beneficial in my work. The effective use of machine learning models in combination with data analysis greatly improves efficiency in identifying and processing duplicate data, enhancing work accuracy. Therefore, I want to further learn about machine learning models and data analysis in this community and discuss these topics with other students and professionals interested in machine learning, so that we can grow together.
Overall, I am very excited and can't wait to learn from everyone and contribute to insightful discussions here.
