    Today I'm excited to unveil the new and improved INFORMS Connect platform! This reflects a streamlined look and feel, as well as updated functionality. This falls into the "You asked, and we are delivering" bucket. Our goal was to keep what members told us they liked and improve the areas that members asked us to improve.   

    • Your homepage when you're logged in now looks different, but the same features are still there. On the menu bar you will find access to your communities, discussion posts, the directory, and events. Further down the page you'll see highlighted content from around INFORMS, Quick Links, and more.
    • In your activity feed and under Discussion Posts on the menu bar, you'll now see all the posts from all your communities in one place. This will save you time navigating around the site and will make sure you don't miss news and conversations.
    • You have control how often you receive email from Connect. Just go to Profile > My Account > Community Notifications. Next to each community is a drop-down list where you can choose to receive email from that community in a daily digest, in real time, or not at all (you'll still be able to see those posts when logged in, as described above).
    • We're now asking members to share job announcements only in the Available Positions community, rather than the Open Forum. All members automatically have access to this community. If you don't want to see job postings, simply leave this community notification setting on No Email. If you're interested in job postings, change that setting to Real Time or Daily Digest. Importantly, we strongly encourage you to use the INFORMS Career Center instead of or in addition to the Available Positions community. The Career Center offers much wider exposure to active job seekers as well as additional career-related resources.

    The staff will be sharing some FAQs and tips on how to use this platform in the coming days. In the meantime, take a few minutes to explore the site and feel free to reply with any questions. 

    While I still have your attention, I would love to give kudos to the INFORMS members who helped test out the system and to the membership, marketing, and IT staff teams who made this happen.

    Thanks, Elena! I have looked around and noticed the new format with the discussion posts for all my communities in one list. This is indeed very helpful. Another change I have noticed is that the Recommend (thumbs up) button also appears right in this feed. It is now much more visible than it was in the old format. Nice work!

    Thanks, Elena. Members, speaking for the INFORMS staff, we're thankful for the support we've gotten from many of you as we worked on this project and we're excited to help get you started using it. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to post them here. I'll bet you're not the only one who has that question (and we are still learning, too) so don't be afraid to ask!

    Thank you, Elena! I am delighted to see this. Congratulations to all involved and thanks as well for responding to members' requests. I look forward to looking around on the site. Also, I just want to reiterate the point about the job postings being consolidated in the Available Positions community. I think this will be an improvement for job seekers, so they can find relevant content in one place. It will also improve the usability of the site for those who are not looking for jobs, as those posts will not clutter their email. For those who are looking to find or post a job, remember, you will find many more resources in the INFORMS Career Center! Great work!!

    The new site looks good! Thanks a lot Elena and all the staff members for the hard work!
    I'm wondering about where to find the Open Forum page. I don't see an obvious link to it at the top of the home page anymore. Appreciate any guidance.

    Here are the steps to access the forum. Hope it helps!

    1. If your screen looks like the one below, click "Menu" on the right-hand side. Otherwise, go to Step 3.

    2. A subpage containing multiple menus should appear. Click "INFORMS Connect" in the last row.

    3. Your address bar should contain "connect.informs.org" at this point. Navigate to "https://connect.informs.org" if that's not the case. Click "Discussion Posts".

    After logging in to Connect, I get a home page as in the following fuzzy screenshot (which shows the INFORMS logo an menu bar in the wrong position for some reason):

    If you squint really hard, under my smiling face and social media scorecard you'll see the "My Communities Quick List", with the Open Forum link at the top.

    @Paul Rubin, thanks for sharing that issue with the menu bar. I have not seen it appear that way before. We'll pass this along to our techie colleagues and see if we can figure out what's causing it!​

    @Tracy Cahall​: Just for the record, it's not an issue with the new Connect. It's an issue with taking a screenshot inside Firefox and specifying (by dragging a box) what to include. The menu bar displays in the correct location inside the browser, so there's nothing for the IT folks to worry about.

    Hi Andrea, good question. The structure of the new site is a little different. On your home page, on the left side, you will find Open Forum in your My Communities Quick List. Your home page also has an activity feed that will include posts from the Open Forum. Just click anywhere you see 'Open Forum' in that list and it will link. Alternatively, you can use Communities > My Communities in the top navigation. 

    For anyone wondering - all members have access to the Open Forum, you don't have to join it specifically. Just being a member of INFORMS gets you in.
