The INSEAD Sustainable Business Initiative invites applications for Post-Doctoral Research Fellow and Research Associate positions. The initiative is led and supported by INSEAD Technology and Operations Management (TOM) area faculty Atalay Atasu, and Luk Van Wassenhove, respectively.

    Description

The INSEAD Sustainable Business Initiative engages in interdisciplinary research and values collaborations with researchers from other disciplines. The two objectives of the initiative are to leverage our strong industry connections to 1- produce impactful and boundary-stretching research, and 2- build a network and support the careers of young researchers. The Post-Doctoral Fellow and Research Associate positions provide a unique opportunity to work with a team of passionate experts at one of the most renowned business schools in the world. A Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Research Associate) supervises (engages in) projects with external stakeholders and leads (supports) research projects with senior faculty.

    Requirements

Candidates for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow position would ideally have a PhD in operations research, operations management, supply chain management, or a related field. A quantitative background in other disciplines (e.g., economics, computer science, industrial ecology, environmental economics) combined with a passion to drive businesses towards a more sustainable future would be equally compatible for the positions. For Research Associates, a graduate degree with similar background profiles is preferred, as well as relevant working experience (e.g., related to business and sustainability). All candidates should fit the following profile:

    • Fluency in written and oral English
    • Strong analytical/empirical skills
    • Knowledge of behavioral methods is a plus
    • Ability to work independently and in small teams
    • Excellent work ethic
    • Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills
    • Strong motivation and high academic values

    About us

The INSEAD Sustainable Business Initiative (SBI) focuses on research on sustainable business problems with roots in the legacy of INSEAD's Sustainable Operations Initiative and the Humanitarian Research groups. SBI's wider research network includes several PhD students and faculty and it provides an opportunity to advance in research via grounded training. In the last year alone, SBI started collaborations with several companies to study problems at the interface of business and sustainability. Problems of interest include designing zero-waste systems, events and cities; defining circularity and sustainability metrics for the consumer electronics industry; identifying circular business models for electrical and electronic products; and exploring the value of sustainability metrics in multi-stakeholder environments. The list of our current collaborators includes a sustainable consumer electronics manufacturer, a large electrical equipment provider, an international large-scale sports event, a circular service provider in the renewable energy industry, and an international sustainability metric organization.
