Dear Colleagues,
Together with 39 OR/MS scholars and practitioners, we are excited to share our new vision statement, "Supply Chain Management in the AI Era: A Vision Statement from the Operations Management Community": https://ssrn.com/abstract=5792542
As contributors to the forthcoming AI in Supply Chains book, we recognize that AI is reshaping how supply chains are designed, managed, and experienced. At the same time, the infrastructure and supply chains that enable AI are coming into sharp focus. The OR/MS community has long helped shape how the world thinks about supply chains, and in the AI era we have not only an opportunity but also a responsibility to help chart the path forward.
In this vision statement, we structure the interaction between AI and supply chain management into five layers (Intelligence, Execution, Strategy, Human, and Infrastructure) and highlight where the most important questions, risks, and opportunities lie. Our aim is to spark a rich conversation and to invite further work at this historic intersection.
We warmly welcome your comments and suggestions.
