I am pleased to announce a new track for Service Science, called the 'Minor or Pass' track, which has the dual goal of increasing the number of high‑quality submissions to the journal and developing a review culture that leads to quick convergence.
This manuscript type may be selected if the manuscript was submitted to another journal and went through a substantial round of revision to address reviewers' comments before or after a negative decision from this journal. Manuscripts selecting this type are deemed to be at an advanced stage of development and will therefore not be given the option of a major revision.
The review process will be leaner than for manuscripts selecting the "original article" type, typically involving at most one reviewer, to offer faster feedback than for regular submissions.
In their cover letter, authors should provide evidence of the revision history of the paper, including (i) a copy of the decision letter by the Editor of the formerly targeted journal and (ii) a bullet list of the key changes made to the paper through the former rounds of revision to demonstrate improvement since the original submission. The formatting requirements are identical to the "original article" manuscript types. As stated in the ethical guidelines above, the manuscript cannot be under review or submission elsewhere at the time of its submission to Service Science.
