Dear Colleagues:
Honored to work with co-author Chandra S Ramasastry and greatly appreciate Ori Eisen's, Founder and CEO of Trusona, support in developing this case.
Abstract
In 2025, the founder and chief executive officer of Trusona, a cybersecurity solutions provider based in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States, was eager to recruit and train new entry-level candidates to strengthen the Trusona talent pipeline. As demand for cybersecurity services increased, clients sought innovative ways to fend off cyber criminals, who seemed to be always one step ahead of their targets. To remain effective and successful, Trusona had to be consistently on the cusp of new developments in the industry. In the talent recruitment process, the challenge to find the right candidate profile for the necessary job requirements at all position levels was a slow, rigid, and expensive struggle. With a scarcity of available top-level and fully qualified cybersecurity candidates, Trusona needed to develop its talent pipeline from the ground up. As the founder considered the challenges of filling the different types of cybersecurity positions, he grappled with one particular managerial issue. How could Trusona build a recruitment model specifically designed for entry-level candidates to leverage the company's successful mid-level recruitment practice?
Learning Objectives
After completion of this case, students will be able to
-- understand two critical aspects of cybersecurity workforce development: innovative recruitment strategies and retention and burnout prevention;
-- explore how innovative recruiting strategies can address different challenges across entry-level and mid-level positions; and
-- examine how cybersecurity companies can create sustainable work environments that prevent employee burnout and improve retention rates.
I am excited to see how educators, students, and practitioners will engage with this case!
Sincerely,
Dave
