We are pleased to announce the finalists for the 2025 INFORMS HAS Best Student Paper Competition. This year, the committee received 38 submissions. Through a two-round review process, with input from a panel of 33 judges, we selected four finalists.
We sincerely thank all participants for their excellent submissions and extend our gratitude to the judges for their careful and thoughtful reviews. The four finalists are (in alphabetical order):
Jacob Jameson (Harvard): The Impact of Batching Advanced Imaging Tests in Emergency Departments (joint work with Soroush Saghafian, Robert Huckman, Nicole Hodgson, and Joshua Baugh)
Sara Mohammadi (UCL): The NHS Blended Payment Scheme: Incentive Issues and Optimal Reform (joint work with Kenan Arifoglu and Bilal Gokpinar)
Sadegh Shirani (Stanford): Validating Counterfactual Estimations Under General Network Interference (joint work with Mohsen Bayati, Yuwei Luo, William Overman, and Ruoxuan Xiong)
Hansraj Satyam Verma (Carnegie Mellon): Data to Dose: Personalized Dosing with Data Generation and Expert Feedback (joint work with Sridhar R. Tayur, Holly Wiberg, and Shixiang (Woody) Zhu)
The finalists will present their work in a dedicated session at the INFORMS Annual Meeting in Atlanta (Monday, October 27, 2:45 PM - 4:00 PM, Building B Level 2 B207). The winner and runner-up will be announced at the HAS business meeting.
