    Call for Nominations

    Editor-in-Chief, Transportation Science

    Deadline for Nominations: July 7, 2025

    Professor Karen Smilowitz will be stepping down early as Editor-in-Chief of Transportation Science (TS) to become Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education at Northwestern.  Based on recommendations from the INFORMS Publications Committee, the president of INFORMS has appointed a committee to conduct a full search for a new editor-in-chief. The committee intends to propose a candidate for approval by INFORMS no later than September 1, 2025.

    Qualifications for the editor-in-chief of TS include:

    • A demonstrated interest in a broad range of topics in the field
    • A demonstrated record of excellence in research in the field
    • Dedication and enthusiasm for TS
    • Significant editorial experience
    • Vision of the role of scholarly publications in the electronic and open-access age
    • Commitment to the workload involved
    • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage the editorial process
    • Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with people

    All members of INFORMS are invited to participate in this process. The committee seeks your opinions and comments on (1) the current state of the journal; (2) recommendations for change, if any; and (3) candidates for editor-in-chief. This information is requested to be sent to the TS Editorial Search Committee Chair as soon as possible. 

    We strongly encourage self-nominations. Please submit your CV and an editorial vision statement by July 7th, 2025, to the Chair of the TS Editorial Search Committee via email (pazouj@rpi.edu).  The editorial vision statement should describe (1) the challenges and opportunities that you believe TS will be facing in the next 3 to 5 years, (2) the key initiatives you would like to champion as EIC, and (3) your qualifications in terms of the list above. While we do not have a specific format for this vision statement, this document should be between 3 to 5 pages.
