    2026 INFORMS Doctoral Student Colloquium

The 2026 Doctoral Student Colloquium is a one-day program for advanced doctoral students preparing for careers in either academia or industry. Experts from operations research, analytics, and data science will share their perspectives through presentations and panel discussions.

The colloquium targets doctoral students 2-3 years from graduation (dissertation stage preferred), although final-year students are also encouraged to apply.

The colloquium will offer practical, candid insights into the diverse career pathways available to doctoral graduates. Sessions will explore the academic job market from multiple angles, including what it takes to succeed in a research-intensive role and the unique opportunities and expectations associated with teaching-focused faculty positions. You will also gain valuable perspective on careers outside of academia, including how to position your expertise for success in industry or applied research roles and how to prepare for industry job interviews. There will also be plenty of opportunities to build your network of peers and mentors.

The colloquium will be held on Saturday, October 31, from 8am to 5pm, just prior to the 2026 INFORMS Annual Meeting, at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis.

More information about the colloquium is available here: https://meetings.informs.org/wordpress/annual/combined-colloquia/
