I'm delighted to share a new Special Issue in ACM Transactions on Social Computing (TSC) on "Bridging AI and Social Science: Human-Algorithm Interaction at Scale." The full manuscript submission is now open!

As AI systems increasingly shape decisions, organisations, and society, there is a growing need to bring AI and social science into deeper conversation. This special issue welcomes research at the two-way intersection:
     • AI & computing methods for answering social science questions, and
     • Social science theories and methods for explaining, evaluating, and improving algorithmic systems.

🔍 Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
     • Human–algorithm interaction, human-in-the-loop systems, and hybrid intelligence
     • Trust, transparency, interpretability, and advice-taking in AI systems
     • Behavioural and experimental studies of recommender, ranking, and generative systems
     • Platform and market design under algorithmic mediation
     • Misinformation, social influence, and collective behaviour at scale
     • Fairness, accountability, governance, and AI policy
     • Datasets, simulation platforms, and measurement for HAI research
     • Organisational and managerial impacts of algorithmic decision-making

🧪 Optional research support is available through Epitome, an LLM-enabled experimental platform designed to help researchers run rigorous, scalable, and reproducible human-AI interaction studies. Use of the platform is entirely optional and has no influence on editorial decisions.

    🗓 Key date (upcoming):
     • Full manuscript submission deadline: 31 March 2026
     • First-round decision: 31 May 2026
     • Revised manuscript: 30 June 2026
     • Final decision: 31 July 2026

📨 All submissions will undergo double-blind peer review and should follow ACM TSC author guidelines.

If you are working at the intersection of AI, human behaviour, organisations, and society, we warmly encourage you to submit your work.
