Dear MIF Members and Colleagues,
The INFORMS Minority Issues Forum (MIF) invites nominations and self-nominations for the 2026 MIF Early Career Award.
This award recognizes outstanding early career scholars whose work has made significant contributions to the theory or practice of OR/MS and whose service has advanced the profession, particularly through contributions that support underrepresented minorities in OR/MS. The award is intended to honor exceptional scholars who have demonstrated strong promise in the early stages of their academic or professional careers.
Eligibility: Eligibility is limited to scholars who are pre-tenure, within 8 years of receiving their doctorate (or equivalent) degree, and active members of MIF. The nomination topic and underlying body of work must be related to OR/MS.
Application Materials: Applicants should submit a single PDF file containing the following materials:
- A current CV
- A one-page statement describing the applicant's research contributions to OR/MS or OR practice, identifying the principal contribution(s) to be considered and briefly clarifying the applicant's specific role, especially in cases of joint work or practice-oriented impact
- A one-page statement describing the applicant's service contributions, particularly contributions to underrepresented minorities in OR/MS
- A statement of MIF membership duration
- At least one letter of recommendation, with recommenders encouraged, where relevant, to comment on the applicant's specific role and contribution
Applications are due by June 19, 2026. Finalists will be notified by August 7, 2026. The award will be presented at the 2026 INFORMS Annual Meeting.
