We are excited to launch AI-Accelerated Research in OM/OR, an exploratory online series of talks focused on how AI is transforming research in our field.

AI is increasingly contributing not only to productivity but also to progress on longstanding scientific and mathematical problems (e.g., Planar Point Sets with Many Unit Distances). Many researchers in our community are beginning to integrate AI into their workflows in different ways - from coding assistance to proof exploration, experimentation pipelines, data analysis, simulation design, and agentic AI systems that coordinate multiple tools and models.

Our goal is to create a forum where researchers can:

    • explore how AI can accelerate and deepen scientific discovery,

    • share practical experiences and best practices,

    • discuss thoughtful and responsible uses of AI in research,

    • examine emerging workflows and agentic systems,

    • and collectively push the frontier of what research teams can accomplish.

The workshop is intended to be interactive and community-driven. Sessions will typically consist of a 30-minute presentation followed by discussion and Q&A. Our first speaker will be Dennis Zhang from Olin Business School (WashU), who will share his AI research workflow.

    Logistics

We welcome faculty, students, and researchers across OM, OR, CS, Econ, and related fields who are interested in learning, experimenting, and contributing to this rapidly evolving research landscape.

    Best,

Gad Allon, Omar Besbes, Francisco Castro, Jun Li, Ilan Lobel, and Sébastien Martin
