Dear Colleagues,
The Harvey J. Greenberg Research Award is an annual award that recognizes outstanding contributions at the intersection of computer science and operations research, with a special focus on emerging application fields. The award is named in memory of Harvey Greenberg, whose pioneering work and lifelong dedication profoundly shaped both fields, and in particular, reflects early work on AI in Operations Research. His legacy continues to inspire innovative research that bridges operations research and computer science.
Honored research will focus on contributions that exhibit the promise of making a significant impact in the scope of OR/MS/Analytics practice. The winner of the award receives a certificate and a $1,000 honorarium. The award will be presented at the ICS Business Meeting that will take place during the INFORMS Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California, November 1-4, 2026. The winner is expected to make their own travel arrangements to the INFORMS meeting.
The deadline for nominations is 11:59 pm EDT, July 10th, 2026.
Conditions for eligibility:
- At least one author on a submitted paper must be an INFORMS member.
- Individuals who won the ICS Prize within two years of the submission date, or who are chosen to win the ICS Prize in the current award year, are ineligible for the award.
- The paper must have been accepted for publication at the time of submission in a refereed journal, book, or conference proceeding. If published, the paper must have appeared in the literature in the year of the award or in the two calendar years preceding the award year.
Nomination process: A submission for this award consists of a single research paper. All nominations should be submitted electronically to icsaward@mit.edu. The entrant should specify in the email that the submission meets the eligibility criteria.
