We are pleased to publish a special issue of Networks that includes selected contributions from the conference on Vehicle Routing and Logistics Optimization (VeRoLog 2019) held last June in Seville, Spain.
The papers in this September 2020 special issue provide the following contributions:
• a pulse algorithm for effective solution of constrained shortest path problems,
• algorithms for integrating auction-based procurement and production scheduling,
• mixed-integer formulation and solution of a traveling salesman problem in which the delivery vehicle is equipped with a drone,
• metaheuristic approaches for routing of electric vehicles in which there are time windows and charging considerations,
• mathematical programming approaches for the train unit assignment and scheduling problem,
• a crowdsourced approach for scheduling drivers for urban freight delivery,
• three papers related to the VeRoLog Solver Challenge problem, which combines both distribution and subsequent installation of equipment (e.g., vending machines).
We trust that the readership of INFORMS will find these articles to be of interest. Most of these are published Open Access.
