The Operations Research Department at Norfolk Southern develops analytical models and decision support systems to improve processes, increase revenues, and reduce cost. We currently have a manager position opening. As a team lead, you will participate in identifying business requirements, collecting and performing data analysis, developing models, deploying models to production, and generating reports/recommendations for management to address business needs.
Position Title: Manager Operations Research
Primary Purpose:
Provides management with recommendations for the use of analytical models and decision support systems to improve business processes, increase revenues, and reduce costs.
Principal Duties:
• Manages projects and provides hands-on leadership in design and development of operations research models and decision support systems.
• Mentors, manages and guides employees and contractors to effectively utilize operations research techniques and computer science skills in delivering decision support systems.
• Collaborates with various departments to identify opportunities for process improvement by using decision tools to develop project proposals and to manage projects through to completion.
