Finding the right partner and deciding to make a family together is an incredible feeling. It gives your life a completely new purpose. Unfortunately, things don’t always go according to plan. One of the biggest challenges you can face in life is a fertility problem. Finding out that you may be unable to have kids can be extremely heartbreaking and stressful. Nevertheless, it’s important to find a healthy way to cope with these feelings and deal with the problem you’re experiencing.

Stop Googling Obsessively

Blaming yourself for your fertility problem is without a doubt the worst thing you can do. It’s crucial you find a way to avoid getting caught in negative thinking patterns. With that being said, you should stop Googling your fertility issue obsessively. It’s okay to get informed about what’s happening with your body, but you should avoid constantly reading and thinking about it. Doing Google searches on fertility every day may lead to mental health problems like depression and anxiety.

In case you’re a sensitive person, you should also avoid being on social media for a few weeks. If you look at other people’s lives on social media, you’ll probably notice that they all have great news to share. Seeing someone else posting photos of a fun road trip with their kids might make you feel like everyone except you has moved on with their lives and started a family. Taking a break from social media will help you relax and focus on dealing with your problem.

Talk to a Therapist

It’s recommended you seek professional help if you notice you’ve been depressed ever since you found out about your fertility problem. Since this can be a very confusing time, you should work on identifying and sharing your feelings. Don’t ignore them and hope they’ll just go away. Make sure you schedule an appointment with a therapist as soon as possible to learn healthy ways for coping with these negative feelings.

Keep in mind that dealing with infertility can be a very scary experience because not only will your dreams of a family be altered, but you may go through a rough patch with your partner as well. On top of that, the medications you’ll be taking during treatment will surely give you mood swings. Thankfully, it won’t be that hard to deal with all of this if you enlist the help of a skilled therapist.

Try In Vitro Fertilization

Just because you have a fertility problem doesn’t mean you won’t ever be able to have kids. Thanks to assisted reproductive technology (ART), doctors are now able to help sperm fertilize an egg with a combination of surgical procedures and medication. One of the best known types of ART is in vitro fertilization (IVF). Although this can often be a successful way to solve your fertility problem, know that the whole process will take some time.

The first step involves taking fertility medication for several months in order for your ovaries to start producing eggs that will be ready for fertilization. The second step of the IVF process is removing mature eggs from your body and mixing it with sperm cells from your partner. Once the sperm cells and eggs are stored in a special container, the fertilization process can begin. The doctor then puts embryos in your uterus. In case one of them attaches to your uterus’ lining, you’ll get pregnant.

Find a Support Group

Although you can talk to your friends and family about the problems you’re experiencing, only women going through the same thing will truly understand what you are feeling. In order to deal with your infertility, it’s best you find a support group. By doing this, you’ll be surrounded by women who are all going through the same thing as you. Talking to them will help you learn how to deal with this complex problem.
