University at Buffalo (UB) - Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) brings together the students & faculty of OR and Management, creating a common platform to share knowledge and ideas with other fellows. We organize academic and social events that benefit the student community. Academic events include: (i) hands-on workshops on latest software and/or programming tools (e.g., R, CPLEX, ARENA, ArcGIS, LaTeX); (ii) research presentations/talks by students; (iii) alumni talks; and (iv) the Dow Big Data Challenge, hosted by INFORMS Texas A&M Student Chapter and Dow Chemicals. Social events include: (i) welcome reception and team-building games for new students; and (ii) coffee hours. From 2016-17, UB INFORMS has been working on pro bono projects with not-for-profit organizations in Buffalo, on which an article can be found here.
