    Faculty Position – Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor 

    Program/Unit Description:

    The Carlson School of Management and the University of Minnesota are home to many eminent scholars in a wide array of disciplines. The Carlson School sits at the heart of the Minneapolis-St. Paul, where the local economy is anchored by 17 Fortune 500 companies, including 3M, Target, General Mills, UnitedHealth Group, Best Buy, and Ameriprise. Carlson School faculty benefit greatly by partnering with the business community directly and through its many research centers. The Carlson School offers ample financial resources and an excellent infrastructure to support research and teaching excellence. It provides a vibrant scholarly environment for pursuing cross-disciplinary research on significant problems.

    The Supply Chain and Operations (SCO) department has 11 tenured/tenure-track faculty and 3 full-time teaching faculty. The department teaches courses in the undergraduate, MBA, Ph.D., and other specialty programs, and conducts a wide variety of research in the Supply Chain and Operations discipline. The department is home to the Master of Science in Supply Chain Management program, targeted to working professionals, and the Juran Center for Research in Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality. The department has an active doctoral program with 14 students in residence. Carlson School faculty are among the world's most prolific: the latest (2017) UT Dallas World Business School Rankings put the Carlson School at 13th in research, and the Academic Rankings of World Universities (ARWU) puts the Business and Economics faculty 11th in the world in intellectual contributions. The SCO undergraduate and Part-Time MBA programs are ranked 15th and 11th, respectively, by U.S. News and World Report.     Position Description

    We invite applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level.  Preference will be given to candidates currently at the senior assistant professor rank or higher. All applicants must possess a Ph.D. in supply chain and operations management or related discipline by the starting date of the appointment, August 27, 2018. Preference will be given to applicants conducting problem-driven research related to contemporary issues in supply chain and operations. Applicants with rigorous training in empirical methods, data analytics, and experimental methods are especially desirable.

    Entry-level applicants for an Assistant Professor position must have a strong research program, and also the potential to excel in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.

    Applicants who already hold an Assistant Professor position must demonstrate an exceptional research trajectory and evidence of high-impact publications, as well as excellence in the classroom.

     Applicants for a tenured Associate Professor position must possess a distinguished record of scholarship and teaching that meets the criteria for tenure at the University of Minnesota. Candidates should have an outstanding scholarly record in supply chain and operations management or related discipline as demonstrated by: research achievements of the highest caliber and an established reputation in the field; evidence of and a commitment to quality teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive education levels; and drive to make a meaningful contribution to the department and school.
