    Dear Community,

In this FREE webinar, Daniel Rusinek (Object Computing, INC) and Marty Schlenker (Schlenker LLC) will present "LiDAR for Railroads: Mathematics and Use Cases". Reserve your spot at http://tiny.cc/raswebinar21

    Date: Wednesday February 22, 2023
    Time: 10:00 EST NEW YORK
              16:00 CEST AMSTERDAM
              22:00 CST BEIJING

    Abstract:

Railroads in North America are taking LiDAR surveys of their rights-of-way with increasing frequency. In some cases, the surveys are being performed for a single purpose, and coverage limited to applicable locations. In other cases, entire routes are surveyed, and the raw data potentially usable for multiple purposes related to right-of-way maintenance and rail asset management. In this presentation, Mr. Schlenker will introduce the subject, and Mr. Rusinek will describe the methodology used to turn point clouds into insights usable by railroad personnel. The presenters will then discuss use cases and take questions.

    About the speakers:

Daniel Rusinek is a LIDAR Subject Matter Expert at Object Computing, Inc (OCI), who has spent his career working on laser physics applications at various academic, and government institutions. His primary focus has been on LIDAR and GPS applications for natural hazard mitigation, geographic surveying, and atmospheric science. Notably, Daniel spent two years contracting at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) working on state of the art Machine Learning and Big Data Applications in the Earth Sciences. Today he continues to work on LIDAR applications, machine learning, and algorithm design to automate detection of train operational hazards. Daniel holds a Master of Science in Geophysics from the University of Houston completed in 2020.

Marty Schlenker is a long-time member of INFORMS and RAS, and serves on INFORMS' Education Strategy Committee. He established Schlenker LLC, a supply chain and technology consulting practice, in May 2021, after a 25-year career with BNSF Railway and CSX Transportation. He holds a MS in Transportation from MIT.
