  • 1.  Workshop: Teaching Supply Chain Management via Games

    Posted 08-21-2023 23:15

    Dear colleagues,

You are invited to a Workshop on Teaching Supply Chain Management via Games. The workshop is free and intended for instructors developing new supply chain management courses or improving an existing supply chain course with experiential learning.

Many supply chain management topics are hard to lecture but easy to play out. Games and simulations can significantly improve students’ learning outcomes while reduce instructors’ workload. In this workshop, we will play two online instructional games, the Hunger Chain simulation (hunger game) and FloraPark simulation (flower game), to learn how to teach important and timely topics in supply chain management such as shortage gaming (panic orders, hoarding), supply chain competition, supply chain contracts and coordination.

    Dates: August 28, 29, 3-4:30pm EDT (New York), 2023.

Registration and more information can be found here:

Thanks, @Yao Zhao, for posting this note.

I agree on the value of using games for lively discussion and supply chain management teaching moments. I would like to learn more about your thinking on using games for experiential learning.  Also, I would like to mention that I ran a supply chain game at the INFORMS Annual Meeting, in Phoenix, for a limited audience.

    This game will be available for professors to use in their classrooms, Please have a look at Kinaxis.com/academics or directly to Game information at https://www.kinaxis.com/en/academic#supplychaingame" title="https://www.kinaxis.com/en/academic#supplychaingame" href="https://www.kinaxis.com/en/academic#supplychaingame" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" class="fui-Link ___10kug0w f3rmtva f1ewtqcl fyind8e f1k6fduh f1w7gpdv fk6fouc fjoy568 figsok6 f1hu3pq6 f11qmguv f19f4twv f1tyq0we f1g0x7ka fhxju0i f1qch9an f1cnd47f fqv5qza f1vmzxwi f1o700av f13mvf36 f1cmlufx f9n3di6 f1ids18y f1tx3yz7 f1deo86v f1eh06m1 f1iescvh fhgqx19 f1olyrje f1p93eir f1nev41a f1h8hb77 f1lqvz6u f10aw75t fsle3fq f17ae5zn">https://www.kinaxis.com/en/academic#supplychaingame.

I'm especially interested in your best tips for teaching games in a limited classroom time setting and what teaching assets you find most useful. Please reach out to me directly (dklett@kinaxis.com) or to Mindi Levinson (mlevinson@kinaxis.com).

    Thanks
