Hi Mihir,
Thanks for asking the question -- I am sure it is on a lot of peoples' minds.
Unfortunately, you can't vote online. You must vote by mailing your paper ballot because that's what our constitution currently requires. But it's also one of the things that the proposed amendments would change. We ask you to please take the time to mail back the paper ballot, even though we know it is somewhat inconvenient. It's a chance to truly make a difference and we're very grateful for every vote!
Many thanks for helping us make a difference for the future!

Thanks for the information. I wanted to confirm that - Is there really not a way to vote online? Thanks!

The answer is YES. All member types have an equal vote, including students. Thank you for checking!

This week you should have received two emails about proposed amendments to the INFORMS Constitution. You can read all about the amendments here: https://www.informs.org/About-INFORMS/Governance/Constitutional-Amendment
Any questions about the proposed amendments are welcome in this forum. But my message today is to bring your attention to the process of voting.
Our constitution requires that at least 20% of INFORMS members vote for the vote to count. It also requires that those votes arrive by mail. Yes – snail mail. We realize this is a bit burdensome (and one of the proposed amendments addresses this issue), but it's critically important that you take the time to participate in the vote and help us reach 20%. Here's what to do:
- Look for the email from INFORMS Secretary Mark Lewis, sent by INFORMS Election Coordinator <mailto:noreply@directvote.net> on November 3, 2022 with a subject line "Important – INFORMS Changes to the Constitution".
- Click on the link in the email to open and print the PDF ballot
- Write your member number on the ballot. Your member number will be in the email or can be found by logging into your account at https://myaccount.informs.org/s/login/
- Mark your selection by filling in the box next to your choice
- Enclose the ballot in a sealed envelope and write your name on the envelope (it must have your name on the envelope, or it won't count!)
- Mail it to Survey & Ballot Systems, 7653 Anagram Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344 USA (not to the INFORMS office)
You'll have the collective gratitude of the entire INFORMS Board and staff if you do this TODAY – don't wait! In early December, our voting vendor will mail paper ballots to members who have not voted yet. Envelopes must be received by February 28, 2023. Please vote now and save the time and money it will take to mail ballots out to you.
Thank you, and feel free to reply with any questions about the voting process or the amendments!
