Hello INFORMS 2023 Attendees,
If you're enjoying the annual meeting as much as I am, you might also be looking for some additional adventure. For those of you interested in both a physical and mental challenge, I'm organizing a hike to witness either the sunrise or sunset from the summit of Cholla Trailhead at Camelback Mountain.
Time and Place:
We'll meet at Echo Canyon Trailhead. The trip to the trailhead takes about 30 minutes from the conference location by car. The hike itself is approximately 3 miles each way, so it's 6-mile round-trip.
Sunrise: 6:34 AM
Sunset: 5:54 PM
Difficulty Level:
This isn't a stroll in the park. The trail is demanding, with an elevation gain that will test your stamina. Given the level of difficulty, this hike may not be suitable for those with medical conditions or those who are not in good physical shape.
Preparation:
Ensure you have ample water and energy-dense snacks. Dehydration is a real risk, and you don't want to get caught off guard.
