In connection with the White House's recent announcement on artificial intelligence (AI) policy, the Administration released a Request for Information (RFI) on March 29, 2024. The RFI seeks public comment to inform the development of an initial means to ensure responsible procurement of AI systems and services by federal agencies, as directed by Executive Order 14110.

The RFI poses several questions related to:

    • Strengthening the AI marketplace, managing the performance and risks of AI systems
    • Promoting competition, assessing the benefits and trade-offs of in-house AI development versus contracting
    • Ensuring compliance with AI governance requirements, protecting data and intellectual property rights
    • Mitigating risks to privacy and civil rights
    • Preventing the procurement of AI systems that produce harmful or illegal content

Comments are due April 29, 2024, and must be submitted electronically through regulations.gov.
