  • 1.  Request for a High School Student - Research Mentor

    Dear group-

    I had a talented and articulate high school junior reach out to me who had seen some of the sports analytics research I have published over my career.    His HS has a program that promotes research and mentorship connections.  He is looking for someone who has done soccer related analytics research (I have not and am not a student of the game).   I told him I would post in the INFORMS group and see if I can connect him with a fellow colleague(s).  

    Feel free to reach out to me if you have questions or may be interested in talked with this great young man.

    I can help.  Soccer metrics are difficult since most of the time a player is not involved in the action directly, but maintaining shape and options.  Has the high school student played a good of soccer.  Is he or she familiar with coaching fundamentals such as shape?  Quality analytics requires domain knowledge.
