Conference Overview
The Michigan Ross Workshop on Unstructured Data and Language Models in Operations, Technology and Management is an interdisciplinary workshop aimed at bringing together researchers from diverse fields to showcase and explore the latest research advancements at the intersection of natural language processing, generative AI, unstructured data, and theoretical, empirical, and experimental studies in Operations, Technology and Information Systems, Management, and related fields. The Conference offers a unique platform for sharing insights, fostering collaborations, and advancing the state of knowledge in this rapidly evolving field.
The workshop will begin with a welcome dinner on Thursday, May 22, 2025, followed by the main event on Friday, May 23, 2025, which will feature paper presentations and panel discussions with academic and industry thought leaders. We look forward to your contributions and your participation in our workshop as we explore the exciting possibilities that unstructured data offer to the fields of operations, management, and technology.
Workshop Topics
We welcome submissions of original research work on, but not limited to, the following topics:
- Value of unstructured data, such as text, image, and video, in providing new research insights in Operations, Information Systems, Management, and related fields.
- Theory and applications of natural language processing (NLP) and text analytics tools.
- Theory and applications of large language models (LLM) such as GPT, BERT, XLNet, etc.
- Theoretical, empirical and behavioral research on the impact of Generative AI tools on business and societal outcomes.
- Use cases, value propositions, and deployment strategies of GenAI tools in all business sectors
- Interaction between human agents and GenAI
- Ethical considerations in NLP, GenAI, and unstructured data usage in business and organizations.
Submission Procedure
Please submit either full paper or extended abstract (no more than 3 pages). The submission deadline is March 7, Friday, 2025. All submissions and inquiries can be sent to michigan.nlp@umich.edu
