Hello INFORMS members,
As some of you may be aware, we fund our Purdue University M.S. in Business Analytics & Information Management (BAIM) students to attend the prestigious INFORMS Business Analytics conference each April [link]. This has been a wonderful experience for them to get feedback on the projects they do with companies by presenting their work in the poster session, but also an opportunity to meet the top practitioner talent and leaders that attend, which includes Franz Edelman finalists! We have a competition in our program called the "MS BAIM Future Edelman Impact Award" where the top 3 project teams voted upon by our corporate partners must make a 3-minute video of their project that focuses on the four dimensions shown below. Once the three finalists are identified they create a short 3-minute professional video of their work for a general audience which is what you'll see of recent real Edelman finalists. Our goal is that one day graduates from our MS BAIM program will be real Edelman finalists by taking what they learned from us and their experience with INFORMS, to lead their organization or client to apply to be an Edelman finalist one day. Here are our top Future Edelman Impact Award finalists. Please watch and "like" the YouTube video that you believe should win this year's award! Whoever gets the most "likes" in one week (by June 21st, 2022 at 5pm EST) will be our award winner and receive $1000 as well as a glass trophy.

- Empirical (20%)
- Capable of being verified or disproved by observational or experimental research by following a structured step-by-step approach from data to decisions.
- Is there a technical innovation in the project? Innovation may stem from the creation of new design, methods, as well as the application of existing methods to new problems or new environments.
- Delivery (20%)
- How does your solution provide recommendations, decision-support, strategy, or abilities in the context of the business need?
- Does or can the solution scale? The capacity of the solution to be changed in size or scale for use or production across a range of capabilities.
- Is this work portable to other applications or industries?
- What political, technical, and managerial challenges had to be overcome in completing the project so it could be deployed, used, or considered for future integration?
- Layman (30%)
- Did you find the right balance of rigor, technical jargon, and layman language so any audience could appreciate the work performed and take-aways from it?
- Impact (30%)
- What are the major quantified (e.g., dollars saved, revenue increased) and non-quantified (e.g., process streamlined, customer satisfaction improved) impacts of the work?
- How important was the work to the client?
