Dear PSOR Community (and INFORMS Community at large),

I hope this message finds you well and that your new year is off to a good start. This is my last message as the 2023 PSOR President and now 2024 Past-President. In 2023, our community thrived, achieving significant milestones and completing important tasks. The most relevant ones have been:

    - the processing of a large survey among our community members
    - the amendment process to improve some of our bylaws
    - the launching of a new award (the PSOR video award)
    - the integration of the Openwater system for our awards submission and judging processes
    - the launching of a PSOR LinkedIn page and a PSOR Youtube channel.

Next, I would like to share some recent PSOR updates on the PSOR bylaw amendments and leadership.

We are in the last step of the amendment process of our bylaws. We thank all PSOR members who voted on the amendments in November/December 2023, thanks to your votes our community approved ALL our proposed changes. The last step is to get these amendments approved by the Subdivisions Council. We will update you when the whole process is finished.

Following elections in September/October 2023, there are some exciting leadership transitions in the PSOR Board.

Joining the leadership team are officers:

-Theodore Allen (Ohio State University) as VP of Communications
-Iva Rashkova (Washington University in St. Louis) as Secretary/Treasurer
-Gabriela Gongora-Svartzman (CMU) as Junior VP of Programs

Renata Konrad (WPI) transitions to President from President-Elect, Gemma Berenguer (UC3M) transitions to Past President from President, Christopher Zobel (Virginia Tech) transitions to Senior VP of Programs from Junior VP of Programs and Kayse Maass (Northeastern University) transitions to President-Elect from Secretary/Treasurer.

I would like to thank six individuals for their valuable contributions in 2023 sincerely: Mahyar Eftekhar (ASU), who most recently served as Senior VP of Programs; Emily Tucker (Clemson University) for her service as VP of Communications; and Andrew C. Trapp (WPI), for his excellent work and support in leading the Section not only as Past-President in 2023 but also in previous years. Finally, I would like to thank Yanhan (Savannah) Tang and Alan Scheller-Wolf (CMU) for co-chairing the PSOR paper competition and Phebe Vayanos (USC) for chairing the PSOR video competition.

Finally, I believe the current times present us with an unprecedented opportunity for the PSOR Section to increase its visibility, expand its activities, and extend its influence to a large fraction of INFORMS members. Participating in the PSOR board as President in 2023 has been a true honor and I am proud of what the section has achieved this year. I look forward to seeing the new activities and perspectives that 2024 brings to the PSOR community. Our community has a lot to offer!

    Best wishes,

    Gemma Berenguer
