    The Laboratory for Energy Systems Analysis at the Paul Scherrer Institute is looking for a Postdoc under the PSI Fellow III Programme. 
    The title of the position is "Multi-objective and multicriteria decision aid models to support energy policymaking" and concerns a 2-year contract at the Institute.     Main tasks:

    • Advanced methodological developments and large-scale applications in Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA)
    • Development, modelling and application of multi-objective optimization models to support decision-making in energy-related problems
    • Research on decision support models within the Swiss context (i.e. SFOE SWEET SURE - SUstainable and Resilient Energy for Switzerland, Innosuisse AEGIS-CH - Advanced geothermal systems to improve the resilience of the energy supply of Switzerland)
    • Contributions to the activities of the Decision Support team within the Group
    • Publication of results in peer-reviewed scientific journals, technical reports / white papers, and presentations at conferences and workshops.

    Requirements/ Desired skills:

    • PhD degree in natural or engineering science, physics, mathematics or related fields.
    • Good knowledge of MCDA methodological frameworks, management of uncertainties and risks, etc.
    • Mathematical programming skills with a focus on multiple objective optimization, use of state-of-the-art modelling tools (e.g. GAMS, R, Python) and statistical software (e.g. SPSS).
    • Artificial intelligence tools and algorithms, such as neural networks and machine learning
    • High understanding of the energy system, with a focus on sustainability and resilience.
    • Good command of English.
    • Team-oriented combined with own initiative and independent research.
