    The Chelliah Sriskandarajah Early Career Research Accomplishments Award

    As a leading professional society in the field of production and operations management, POMS has the responsibility to influence, recognize, and reward its members for their unusually high accomplishments in their early careers. The Chelliah Sriskandarajah Early Career Research Accomplishments Award has been created to recognize these accomplishments. The award will be presented during the POMS 2023 Annual Conference, Orlando, FL, U.S.A. For information about the conference and The Chelliah Sriskandarajah Early Career Research Accomplishments Award, please visit POMS website:  http://www.poms.org/

    For this award, there will be at most two winners. The first-place winner gets a prize of $1,000 and the runner‐up gets a prize of $500. If both winners tie up for the first place, then each winner will get a prize of $1,000. Awards will not be given if the nominees do not meet the standards. An award plaque and a check for the appropriate amount will be presented to the winner (s) at the awards luncheon of the 33rd Annual POMS Conference in Orlando, FL, USA.  The winner (s) of the award will be notified by March 15, 2023.

    DEFINITION OF EARLY‐CAREER RESEARCHER

    An "Early‐Career Researcher" will be defined as someone who has received a doctoral degree (or its equivalent outside of the USA) within the previous six years. For the POMS 2023 meeting, 2017 is the starting year for inclusion. Note that previous winners of this award are not eligible to apply again, but unsuccessful applicants may submit materials in a later year, provided they still meet the career stage requirement. The applicant must be a POMS member in good standing.

    PROCEDURE FOR SUBMISSIONS

    By January 31, 2023, please email copies of the materials listed below to the committee chair, Professor Feryal Erhun (f.erhun@jbs.cam.ac.uk), along with a copy to Professor Sushil Gupta, the Executive Director of POMS, via e‐mail at (poms@fiu.edu). The committee chair will acknowledge receipt and distribute copies to the judges. Additions to the portfolio cannot be made after the January 31, 2023 deadline. The portfolio should include the following (in a single pdf file):

    1. A cover letter of no more than two pages applying for the award that highlights the major contributions of the applicant's entire body of research;
    2. A copy of the candidate's resume;
    3. Copies of one to three key papers;
    4. A maximum of three letters of recommendation for the award from other academics or area/department chairs describing the applicant's contribution to research, or from practitioners confirming the successful application of research findings.

    AWARD CRITERIA

    Accomplishments can be measured in many ways, with publications and presentations given primary importance. Work published (or formally accepted for publication) or presented at a conference within the six‐year eligibility period will be considered in the evaluation process if properly documented.

    The judges will evaluate the impact of the body of work in terms of its ability to broaden, extend, and alter the way that POM is conceptualized, practiced, and viewed. The judges are not required to give awards if applicants do not meet the standards they establish.
