The POMS College of Supply Chain Management is excited to launch a new initiative to promote the research of junior scholars-PhD students, candidates, and pre-tenure faculty. This initiative consists of two components:
1. Webinar Series
Held twice per semester (on the second Friday of every other month), each 90-minute webinar session will feature two junior scholars presenting their research (~40 minutes each), with opportunities for constructive feedback from the College community. We anticipate that demand for presentation slots may exceed availability. As such, we may not be able to accommodate all interested scholars each semester. Priority will be given to PhD students and candidates for sessions in the Fall, and we seek diversity in research topics and methodologies when finalizing speaker rosters.
Submissions will be reviewed at the end of each month until all available slots are filled. The first review will take place on July 31, 2025. To broaden participation, we strongly encourage submissions to the Research Bites series-short, pre-recorded research spotlights shared with the community. This alternative provides an additional platform for showcasing ongoing work and fostering scholarly exchange beyond the live webinar format.
Once we have confirmation on the speaker rosters, an email will be sent to members announcing the webinars.
Fall 2025 Dates: Sept 12 and Nov 14
Spring 2026 Dates: Feb 13 and Apr 10
Time: 10:00 AM ET
2. Research Bites Series
Members are invited to submit a 5-minute research pitch or summary video. These will be promoted (periodically) on our LinkedIn group and distributed via email to college members. The POM Society will also explore ways to disseminate the research findings to a broader audience. There is no limit on the number of submissions. Submissions will be reviewed and disseminated on an ongoing basis throughout the academic year.
Eligibility: Participation in either series requires active College of Supply Chain Management membership ($15). Non-members may join via the POMS website.
Participant Benefits:
- Promote research
- Research feedback from peers
- Practice for job market talks and research pitches
- Complimentary student registration to the 2026 POMS College of Supply Chain Management mini-conference (must have presented as a speaker in the webinar series)
- Priority for fellowship consideration (includes complimentary registration to 2026 POMS Annual Conference & College of Supply Chain Management mini-conference). Details about the new College fellowship will be announced in early 2026.
We look forward to spotlighting and supporting the next generation of supply chain scholars!
