We are pleased to let you know that Dr. David Simchi-Levi from MIT will deliver the Harold Larnder Memorial Lecture during the 2025 CORS conference, which will take place in Edmonton, Alberta, on June 9–11, 2025.
Dr. David Simchi-Levi is a Professor of Engineering Systems at MIT and serves as the head of the MIT Data Science Lab. He is considered as one of the premier thought leaders in supply chain management and business analytics. Please find more information about his talk below.
Title: Reinventing Operations Management's Research and Practice with Data Science
Abstract: In this talk, we show how data-driven research fosters the development of new engineering and scientific methods that explain, predict, and change behavior. We report on a few projects with online and brick-and-mortar retailers where we combine machine learning, optimization and econometrics techniques to improve business performance.
Our second plenary speaker is Dr. Chung Piaw Teo from National University of Singapore (NUS). Dr. Teo is Stephen Riady Professor and Executive Director of the Institute of Operations Research and Analytics (IORA) at NUS. Prior to the current appointments, he was a Head of Department, Acting Deputy Dean, Vice-Dean of the Research and Ph.D Program as well as Chair of the Ph.D Committee in the NUS Business School.
