    Dear INFORMS Community,<u1:p></u1:p>

It is with great sadness that I share with you the news of the recent passing of Professor Emeritus Richard "Dick" W. Conway of Cornell University at the age of 92.<u1:p></u1:p>

Professor Emeritus Conway was the Emerson Electric Company Professor of Manufacturing Management in the Operations Management area (now the Operations, Technology, and Information Management area) in the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson School) at Cornell University. Professor Conway is known in the Operations Research/Operations Management field for his classic book "Theory of Scheduling," published in 1967 together with co-authors Bill Maxwell and Louis Miller.

A trailblazing professor, he was instrumental in launching Cornell's Department of Computer Science – one of the first of its kind – in 1965. He was one of the first three full professors in computer science at Cornell. After moving to the Johnson School in 1983, he helped launch our innovative Semester in Manufacturing immersion courses. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1992 and retired from the Johnson School in 1999.<u1:p></u1:p>

Please see the Cornell Chronicle article for a more detailed remembrance. Plans for memorial services will be shared upon request as soon as they become available.<u1:p></u1:p>
