The Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering (IMSE) at the University of South Florida (USF) invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level starting in August 2023.

We will be available at INFORMS to meet with potential candidates.

The research and educational interests of the applicants should intersect with the departmental core methodological research thrusts in data analytics, machine learning, and optimization with decision-making applications in smart city/urban infrastructure (including cybersecurity, healthcare systems, energy, water, transportation, and public health), and advanced manufacturing. Minimum qualification will be a doctoral degree either in industrial engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field from an accredited research institution. Preferred qualifications include 1) research expertise in one or more areas, including data mining and machine learning, computing methods and architecture, large-scale and robust optimization, and advanced manufacturing, 2) a strong record of publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals/conferences, and, if seeking an associate/full rank a high citation h-index, 3) significant potential (or demonstrated experience) for conducting research, as principal investigator, funded by grants and contracts from federal agencies and state/private sources, 4) potential/demonstrated ability to form multi-level, interdisciplinary research collaborations, 5) a strong potential/record of successfully funding, mentoring, and graduating doctoral students from diverse backgrounds, and 6) demonstrated experience/potential for developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses, particularly Ph.D. level courses. Successful candidates are expected to have leadership and communication skills, be able to work effectively in teams, integrate research, education, and service activities, and be actively engaged in leadership in professional societies.

The IMSE Department currently has 15 full-time faculty members and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering, an M.S. degree in Engineering Management (MSEM), an M.S. degree in Data Intelligence (MSDI), and is very active in offering distance learning opportunities. The department currently hosts 245 undergraduates (counting mainly juniors and seniors only), 150 masters, and 24 full-time doctoral students.
