The recently formed Operations Management (OM) group of the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for our inaugural class of PhD students.

 
The research interests of our OM faculty (Süleyman Kerimov, Yiangos Papanastasiou, Amit Pazgal, Nicola Secomandi, and Tolga Tezcan) span the broad spectrum of current scholarship in operations and analytics, including contextual domains such as energy and sustainability, healthcare, and platforms and marketplaces.  OM PhD students will have ample opportunities to collaborate with faculty and students at the Jones School and across campus, including the Computational Mathematics and Operations Research Department and the Statistics Department in the Brown School of Engineering, as well as the Economics Department in the School of Social Sciences.  The design of the OM major PhD curriculum purposely builds on these synergies.

The Jones School's PhD program offers a highly attractive financial package   The majors offered by other areas of the school have built a culture of interdisciplinary research and dedication to PhD student mentorship and success, which the OM group wholeheartedly embraces.  Our PhD graduates have been placed at many top 20 universities.  The Jones School has state-of-the-art research facilities.  Rice University is located in the heart of Houston, TX, the fourth largest and most diverse city in the Unites States, renowned for its vibrant and trailblazing character, and the Energy Capital of the World.  Rice University's beautiful, heavily-wooded, and near 300-acre campus is next to the Houston Museum District and the Texas Medical Center, just a few miles from the midtown Ion Innovation District and the downtown Business District.  Rice University features various interdisciplinary institutes, including the Ken Kennedy Institute, focusing on artificial intelligence, data, and computing, and the newly established Sustainability Institute.
